Welcome to Micah Tree Books
Micah Tree Books, LTD is a new indie publishing company dedicated to fostering the unique connection people have with printed books, and each other!

Although Micah Tree Books is not strictly a children’s book publisher, our first offering is in the children’s division with “Burnham McGee & The Honey Tree” by author and Micah Tree Books owner, Steve Hackbarth and Illustrator Rick Nass.

Buying through this website from Micah Tree Books will  be the best way to support the mission of the organizaton. Although titles will be available through major distibutors worldwide such as Barnes & Noble, Amazon, & others, the wholesale requirements for selling through those outlets mean that an author literally (pun intended 😉 ) makes just pennies on each book they sell.

Paperback and hardcover versions are now available for purchase at the Order link in the menu above.

2025-01-07: The initial setup is complete and we are receiving sign-ups for the monthly newsletter. A draft welcome letter has been created that features a fun story about a recent overseas trip we took where I learned something about differences in culture!

I am in the process of updating that welcome email now to provide a little more structure and understanding of what the monthly newsletter will look like. So, if you are curious about that story, sign up today before the welcome email gets updated.

2025-01-12: After setting up the ordering links, I ordered one of each of the books for myself to get an idea of the customer experience.  I am working on the possibility of setting up a webstore here for people to buy direct instead of through the Ingram web portal.

PLEASE, send feedback through the contact form page to let me know your feedback and suggestions as we navigate the development of the site and business.

Micah Tree Books has been created with a foundation of celebrating and encouraging meaningful human connections. In keeping with this aspect of the vision, there is a QR code in the front of “Burnham McGee &  The Honey Tree” that links to a parent guide page. Each guide is structured as a set of questions designed to facilitate discussion with children about specific relational topics and the impact they have, both on them and the people around them. Three parent guides have been created for this first book – Frustration, Selfishness, & Misunderstood.  The guides are only available through the link provided in the book.

Getting Started

As the idea for creating this indie publishing company has come together, the mission or vision has also been growing and solidifying.  Following are a couple of the initial thoughts that are in the mix as we move forward in defining what we are doing here. Additional background information is available on the ‘About’ page.

Human Creativity

We are at the dawn of a massive shift in technological capability that will blur the lines between human and machine creativity. Micah Tree Books is committed to publishing only works by human authors and illustrators. (A statement on AI & Tech is in the works and will no-doubt contain some strange ironies…)

Human Connection

The last 20 years has seen the cultural shift to the world of the handheld screen. Although this has come with many wonderful benefits, it has also come at a tremendous cost in terms of real-world human connection. Micah Tree Books will only be publishing physical printed books and not providing e-reader or screen versions of titles.
